Dear Families,
Welcome to Kindergarten! My name is Laura Armstrong and I am very excited to be your child’s teacher in the Ladybug Room (Room 7) this year. This will be my 23nd year as an early childhood educator at BAS.
I attended Michigan State University where I majored in Child Development and Teaching. I also earned a Master’s degree in Reading Development from Eastern Michigan University.
I hope you all enjoyed your summer and are ready for the fun adventures that kindergarten entails. I look forward to working with you throughout the year to foster a love of learning in your child. My goal is to build a safe and nurturing environment in our classroom. Our days will be filled with opportunities for growth physically, socially, emotionally, and cognitively. I am looking forward to an exciting year of thinking and learning together!
Homework: To begin building our classroom community, please bring a 4X6 or 5X7 family photo to Meet & Greet or on the first day of school. We will display them in our classroom. This will be a great way for your child to “visit” you throughout the day! You may also bring some of the suggested classroom donations if you have them. This helps lighten the load of items to bring on the first day.
Our first day is Tuesday, September 6th. Kindergarteners will have a late start (9:30am), and will attend school with a slightly shortened day, ending at 3:30pm. All kindergarteners must be drop off and pick up on this day only. Please plan to have your kindergartner meet me on the side playground at 9:30am.
